Cherry Tree Reduction in West Drayton
Project Overview
On 12th March 2026, Access Tree Specialists carried out a professional crown reduction on a mature cherry tree in a residential garden in West Drayton.
The tree had developed an overextended crown, with branches reaching close to the garden boundary fence and neighbouring areas. The aim of the work was to reduce the overall canopy size, improve structure, and maintain the health and appearance of the tree while ensuring it remained safe within the garden environment.
If your garden tree has become too large, unbalanced, or is encroaching on nearby structures, a professional reduction can restore its shape and safety.

The Issue
Over time, cherry trees can produce dense and extended growth, particularly in residential gardens where space is limited.
The main concerns for this project included:
- Branches extending toward neighbouring boundaries
- Excess canopy density
- Increased wind resistance
- Loss of balanced crown shape
Without proper management, this type of growth can lead to structural stress and increased maintenance issues in the future.
Our Approach
After assessing the tree, our team carried out a carefully controlled crown reduction, focusing on maintaining the natural shape of the cherry tree while reducing its overall size.
The work involved:
- Rope and harness climbing access
- Selective branch reduction across the crown
- Removal of excessive or poorly positioned growth
- Maintaining a balanced canopy structure
- Careful pruning cuts to support healthy regrowth
All work was carried out following best arboricultural practices to protect the long-term health of the tree.
The Result
- A well-balanced and manageable canopy
- Reduced crown height and spread
- Improved structure and airflow through the tree
- Maintained natural shape and appearance
- Garden left clean and tidy
The cherry tree now sits comfortably within the garden space and will continue to thrive with improved structure.
